Grodin — the 6-foot-5 guard out the The Newman School (MA) — was originally committed to Fordham. He reopened his recruitment after its coaching change and will now be heading to Happy Valley.
“I chose Penn State because of how well I fit into their system and the way they play,” Grodin told ZAGSBLOG. “I have a great relationship with the enitre coaching staff and love the vision they have for me.”
This past summer with New Heights Lightning, Grodin was a sparkplug off the bench. Every time his squad needed a big offensive rebound, defensive stop or shot to fall, Grodin was there to make the play.
“Reggie was an important piece to the team,” four-star forward and JMU commit Preston Fowler said. “He didn’t need to score to impact the game at all. He impacted on the defensive end and rebounding. He’s a good teammate who never complains even when the ball isn’t going his way. And he’s a guy who gave us great energy off the bench and we could always depend him to help the team.”
Penn State and Mike Rhoades now have five commits in the 2025 class. Grodin joins guard Kayden Mingo and forwards Mason Blackwood, Justin Houser and Ivan Juric.
“They are getting a dog, winner and a guy who can put the ball in the basket at a very high level,” Grodin said.
