The second round will begin at noon in Greensboro.

The ACC tournament continues today with four games. Pitt is scheduled in the 2nd spot, tipping off at approximately 2:30pm

8. Syracuse 17-14 (10-10) vs 9. Wake Forest 18-13 (10-10)

Game Time: 12:00 pm

Previous Meeting: Syracuse 72 (H) Wake Forest 63 (A) on 3/4/2023

Breakdown: Welp, these teams literally just played so let’s use that as our jumping off point. Appleby had 21, but the rest of Wake’s offense could not get going. And having to carry such a large offensive load contributed to Appleby’s 7 turnovers. On the Orange side, they shot terribly from three (2-14), but they were bailed out by Jesse Edwards’ monster 27 and 20 performance. Assuming Syracuse can shoot a little better, they should win again.

Prediction: Syracuse 70 Wake Forest 66

5. Pitt 21-10 (14-6) vs 13. Georgia Tech 15-17 (6-14)

Game Time: 2:30 pm (approximate)

Previous Meeting: Pitt 76 (H) Georgia Tech 68 (A) on 2/21/2023

Breakdown: Game Preview

10. Boston College 16-16 (9-11) vs 7. North Carolina 19-12 (11-9)

Game Time: 7:00 pm

Previous Meeting: North Carolina 72 (H) Boston College 64 (A) on 1/17/2023

Breakdown: Boston College defeated a Louisville team with one foot on the plane yesterday. I’d like to think that this UNC team will wake up eventually. If Quinten Post is out again for BC (17 points in first meeting), they don’t have the horses to compete with the Tar Heels

Prediction: North Carolina 75 Boston College 60

11. Virgina Tech 19-13 (8-12) vs 6. NC State 22-9 (12-8)

Game Time: 9:30 pm (approximate)

Previous Meeting: NC State 73 (A) Virginia Tech 69 (H) on 1/7/2023

Breakdown: The Wolfpack out-rebounded the Hokies 37 to 26 in the first meeting. If you give Smith and Joiner that many extra opportunities, you are going to have a bad time. Look for a bounce back performance from Tech guard Sean Pedulla. He had a modest offensive output, but he missed two free throws down the stretch that almost cost them the game against ND yesterday. He hadn’t missed one in a month. I’ll take VT to pull the upset.

Prediction: Virginia Tech 72 NC State 70

Enjoy the games!
