Kenny Pickett Has Small Hands: NFL World Reacts

The top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft had their measurements taken at the NFL Combine. Most of the attention went to Pitt’s Kenny Pickett since he didn’t have his hands measured at the Senior Bowl.

Pickett had a nice career at Pitt, but there are plenty of people concerned about his hand size. Well, those concerns aren’t going to go away anytime soon.

It’s been officially announced that Pickett’s hands were measured at 8.5 inches. Every starting quarterback playing in the NFL today has larger hands.

ESPN’s Todd McShay put Pickett’s hand size into perspective for those interested in this topic.

“Pittsburgh QB Kenny Picketthand span measurement was 8 1/2′. Well below 9′ red flag line,” McShay said. “Most teams aren’t putting any real stock into it. It should be noted that Michael Vick (2001 draft) was the last QB with a sub-9′ hand span to achieve sustained success in the NFL.”

Unfortunately for Pickett, there will be a lot of jokes made about his hands over the next few days.

Pickett addressed his hand size during Wednesday’s media session. He didn’t sound too worried about it.

“Whatever it measures, it measures,” Pickett said, via NFL.com. “I’m sure that won’t be the end of it, but that’ll be the last measurement I’m sure I’ll take of it.”

For the past few months, Pickett has been considered a first-round prospect. It’ll be interesting to see if this development affects his stock.
