Pitt in the Pros: Week 14

Before we kick off week 15 in the NFL, let’s revisit how some Pitt Panthers played last week

Week 14 was the final week of bye weeks in the NFL which means from here on out every team will play every week till week 18 concludes. It’s time to take our weekly dive to see how some former Pittsburgh Panthers are performing on Sundays.

Offense:

Tyler Boyd: Once again, the 2022 season has not been kind to Tyler Boyd. On the second offensive snap for the Bengals against the Cleveland Browns Boyd dislocated his finger and was removed from the game. He is listed as week-to-week, and reports say he is likely to miss two weeks due to the injury.

James Conner: While James Conner’s performance on Sunday was not amazing it was sufficient enough. Conner rushed for 85 yards on 15 attempts with a touchdown. Compared to his other games his season this is not a huge leap yards wise, actually it is less yards than last week, but the touchdown is something that was needed by Conner. The Cardinals battle the struggling Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:05 PM in Denver.

Kenny Pickett: Much like Tyler Boyd, Week 14 was not great for the Steelers starting quarterback. In the first quarter of the game, Pickett was taken out and put into concussion protocol. At the time of this writing, he is still in the protocol but is still one of the two likely options to be under center in Carolina this Sunday.

Defense:

Damarri Mathis: Damarii Mathis has been the model of consistency this season and week 14 was no different. He had a total of 5 tackles, all of which were solo. This has been around the numbers he has had in every game this season, but it is sadly not enough to push the Broncos to a win. The Broncos will battle the Arizona Cardinals at 4:05 PM on Sunday.

Jordan Whitehead: After his outstanding performance last week Whitehead came back down to his normal performance this week against Buffalo. He had a total of 4 tackles during the game, 2 solo and 2 assists. While this was not his 11-tackle game he had last week, it has been around the same performance he has had much of this season. Whitehead and the Jets battle the Detroit Lions on Sunday at 1 PM.

Aaron Donald: Aaron Donald did not see the field once again this week due to his ankle injury. His timetable for a return has not been disclosed, but he is set to meet with team doctors to find out the extent of the injury.

If you feel any former Panthers need to be discussed in next week’s edition of Pitt in the Pros leave their name in the comments!
