Cummings is a three-star guard out of Midland, Pennsylvania, and had offers from Creighton, Duquesne, and South Carolina. Speaking to Joe Tipton of On3, Cummings gave his insight into why he chose the University of Pittsburgh.

“I chose Pitt because this is where I’m from,” Cummings said to On3. “It’s home to me and I really believe in coach (Jeff) Capel and his vision for me and the program.”

Cummings joining is another win for the program that is building momentum for a brighter future. The Panthers are currently 4-0 in the ACC and picked up another big win at the Peterson Events Center over the 11th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers. The Panthers currently have the 24th-ranked class this season according to 24/7 sports. Cummings was in attendance for the thrilling win over North Carolina along with teammate Meleek Thomas who is a 5-star prospect and ranked number seven in the nation. Alier Maluk was also in attendance who is a 4-star prospect and the second-ranked prospect in the state of Pennsylvania.

After a rough start for Jeff Capel in his Pitt tenure is showing why patience pays off. The Panthers are officially on the national radar as evidenced by the Panther’s upcoming matchup against Clemson getting moved over to ESPN2 for a national spotlight. The message Capel has been delivering is coming to fruition and incoming recruits seem to be bought in. Cummings had a message to the Pitt fans in his interview with On3.

“Pitt fans, I’m ready to be a part of the fight to continue to restore Pitt basketball.”
