Pitt basketball clashed in an extremely close matchup with Boston College, with both teams having a record of 8-10 coming in. However, Pitt fell 65-62 to the Eagles on Wednesday.
Pitt hits some early threes, but not enough
Pitt had an up-and-down start in the first half, feeling very comfortable from the three-point line. It made several three-point attempts, but was slow in stacking points, allowing Boston College to put itself up ahead on the scoreboard throughout the first period, 28-22.
Although they ultimately lost, the Panthers put up some good stats against the Eagles, including an increase from the free-throw line. In the first period, Pitt had a 54.5 free throw percentage compared to Boston College’s 44.4 percentage.
But the Eagles stood their ground for a good amount of this game. With very persistent shooting, they were able to hold a 45.5 field goal percentage through the first and second half.
The entire game was extremely close, and there was even a tie in the last two minutes of the game. Unfortunately, the Panthers were not able to get this win on the road.
What’s next?
The next matchup will be against the NC State Wolfpack at the Petersen Events Center on Sunday at noon. You can watch the game on ACC Network.
