Alabama State is predicted to finish near the bottom of the SWAC. First year coach Tony Madlock comes over after one season at South Carolina State where he led the team to a 15-16 record after they finished 1-17 the year before. He was a finalist for the Joe B. Hall award, but did not win. The Hornets’ top player is Madlock’s son TJ who also came over from SC State.
The Hornets are going to shoot a lot and they’re going to crash the glass. Madlock’s SC State team was 3rd nationally in offensive rebounds per game in his lone season there. Hopefully Pitt’s talent overwhelms them in the end.
