The Pitt quarterback will be looking for his 3rd home in three years
There was plenty of excitement around Kedon Slovis when he first announced his intentions to transfer to the Pittsburgh Panthers last year. Now it looks like that will only last one season after a report surfaced that Kedon Slovis is set to enter the transfer portal again after just one season at Pitt.

Slovis arrived on campus to fill in the void left by Kenny Pickett who helped bring the team an ACC title and became a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. There was hope that Slovis would be able to repeat with the momentum that Pickett left but things never ended up working out that way. While Slovis was a steadying presence at USC throwing 58 touchdown passes in three seasons, things got off to a slow start in Pittsburgh.
The Panthers started the season 4-4 which lead to media questions surrounding the quarterback position. Pat Narduzzi never wavered in his support for Slovis and things finally started to turn a corner for the month of November. While Slovis didn’t carry the team to victory, the quarterback played cleaner football and was able to salvage an 8-4 season and a trip to the Sun Bowl.
A couple of Pitt players took to Twitter caught off guard by the decision. With some particularly strong words from cornerback Marquis Williams.

Now that Slovis has decided to move on the Panthers will have a few options at quarterback going forward. Either Nick Patti who is a redshirt senior and not expected to be with the program next season or redshirt freshman Nate Yarnell will be the Panthers quarterback for the Sun Bowl. For next season Pitt will look to the transfer portal again for their starting quarterback next season after losing the commitment of Kenny Minchey to Notre Dame in November.
There is plenty of rumblings going on right now about former Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec, who Cignetti coached during his time there as someone who could potentially transfer in. Pitt is still currently trying to flip a quarterback from this class still so keep an eye on Ty Dieffenbach, a current UNLV commit who the Panthers offered on Saturday.
