Centre Morgan Barron Signs New Deal With Winnipeg Jets

The Halifax, Nova Scotia product had played for two teams through his NHL career, the New York Rangers and the Winnipeg Jets. He was originally selected by the Rangers in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Furthermore, he then spent two seasons at Cornell University, before making the leap to the professional ranks.

So far, he has five years of NHL experience under his belt. He’s appeared in 256 regular season contests, recording 30 goals and 30 assists. His career highs are games (80), goals (11), assists (13), points (21), and they have all come within the last three seasons. Also, he’s played 70 or more games, in each of those three most recent campaigns. Furthermore, his career average is 11:12 of ice time and he has an exactly 50% career faceoff win percentage.

So What Does the Barron Bring to the Jets Lineup?

As Morgan Barron signs, you have a good idea of what you’re getting. He’s been a reliable, depth centre. Moreover, you can count on him to be there defensively, and even in high leverage situations. These are all invaluable traits for someone who doesn’t get a lot of ice time. General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff knows these guys are worth their weight and goal, and Barron has two more seasons to prove he is a great fit in the geographic centre of Canada.
