The Pens grab a goalie
Kyle Dubas had a first in his NHL drafting history — he selected a goalie within the first three rounds of the draft for the first time at the 2025 Draft when the Penguins took Gabriel D’aigle with the 84th overall pick.

D’aigle, from the same town of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec as Marc-Andre Fleury (he even signed up with Fleury’s agent) was tabbed as the next big Canadian goalie prospect years ago due to his size. He’s had a bit of a choppy junior career on a bad QMJHL team and has seen his stock level out.

He’s one of the biggest goalies in this draft class, and his movement around the crease makes him one of the better goalies in the QMJHL when it comes to picking up pucks through screens. D’Aigle also seals the ice extremely well and does a decent job with his rebounds.
D’aigle was ranked as the 11th North American goalie by Central Scouting, the Penguins liked him better than that to make him the eighth goalie taken overall in the draft.
The Penguins were scheduled to pick again right after this pick at 85, but opted to trade with Vegas and move down to 91. Pittsburgh picked up the 154th pick as a result to add to their collection.
