We hardly knew thee!
Turns out the Pittsburgh Penguin chapter of Luke Schenn’s career lasted less than two days. The Pens acquired Schenn from Nashville in the deal that sent Michael Bunting to the Predators. There were rumors that Pittsburgh might seek to flip the veteran defender Schenn quickly, and that has come to pass. The Pens sent Schenn to Winnipeg for second and fourth round draft picks.

Schenn, 35, has two Stanley Cup and reportedly is fine with the idea of playing for a team that’s chasing a championship, which also marks the first time a player might have preferred Winnipeg over Pittsburgh. The Jets sit in first place in the Western Conference.

Works out well for the Penguins too, who continue to build their war chest of future draft picks. The team now has an amazing 31 picks in the coming years, with 10 picks in the first or second rounds in the next three seasons to use for themselves or try and send out for immediate NHL help.
There’s still some more time to add even more before the 3pm NHL trade deadline today.
