It’s a good time to be a seller!
The Pittsburgh Penguins have found it’s a good time to be a seller at the NHL trade deadline. The Pens send forward Anthony Beauvillier to the Washington Capitals, in exchange for a second round draft pick in the upcoming 2025 draft. It’s the Capitals own selection, which means if they win the division it will be very late in the round, but a draft pick is a draft pick. Pittsburgh did not previously have a second rounder in this year’s draft.

Beauvillier was signed as a free agent to Pittsburgh last summer. He’s been OK, scoring 13 goals and adding seven assists in 63 games, playing at times on every single line from first to fourth (not to mention being a healthy scratch once) and also on both different special teams groups. He proved to have good speed and decent enough hands, a nice complimentary piece.
The Beauvillier trade marked the first move of the day for the Pens, but it is not expected to be their last before the 3pm deadline.
