A few players were called up and a few others were sent to WBS.

The Penguins announced Friday morning that several roster moves have been made, all in connection with the taxi squad.

The Penguins have assigned forwards Jordy Bellerive and Josh Currie and goaltender Emil Larmi to the taxi squad.

Forwards Frederick Gaudreau and Anthony Angello and goaltender Maxime Lagace have been re-assigned to the @WBSPenguins.

Jordy Bellerive, Josh Currie, and Emil Larmi were all added to the taxi squad. Should these player see any time on the ice in the NHL, Bellerive and Currie are both decent seasons in the minors with a few goals. Perhaps a little young blood may get mixed into the lineup with some more offensive upside over the likes of Mark Jankowski, who has been a disappointment outside of the great first couple games of the season he played.

In coordination with these call-ups, several players were sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as well. Frederick Gaudreau, Anthony Angello, and Maxime Lagace were the three players sent to WBS.

This move makes perfect sense as a way to get your taxi squad players some games, even if it is just at the AHL level. All of those players had been on the taxi squad, but thankfully, in the Penguins’ case. the players weren’t needed to step in and play at the NHL level.

May as well send them down so they can see some live game play and keep their skating legs fresh with action instead of just sitting on the taxi squad. I like the idea of shuffling the taxi squad around for this purpose.
