The draft pick is a 2026 4th-round pick.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded Michael Bunting and a 4th-round draft pick to the Nashville Predators in exchange for veteran defenseman Luke Schenn and forward Tommy Novak.
The trade comes just after the team dealt Vincent Desharnais to the San Jose Sharks for a 5th-round pick and ahead of Friday’s trade deadline.
The Penguins acquired Bunting via trade nearly one year ago when Jake Guentzel was dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes and now Bunting is headed to Nashville.
Luke Schenn, 35 years old and playing in his 17th NHL season, is under contract for one more season with an annual cap hit of $2.75M while Novak, 27 years old, has two more years on his current contract with an annual cap hit of $3.5M.
Novak is in his 4th NHL season and had scored 13 goals so far this season in 52 games.
The Penguins now have 27 picks to make in the next three NHL drafts, including four-first round picks.
