Team Canada with a Second Injury Replacement at Forward

February 6, 2026 by Last Word On Hockey

Team Canada has made the announcement that another forward will unfortunately not be able to make the trip to the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics. There had been some delay in the announcement as the player was doing everything he could to rehab, to try to make himself available. However, Brayden Point has a knee injury and will be replaced by Seth Jarvis. So, this is a big opportunity for Jarvis to make the trip to the Olympics.

Brayden Point had sustained the knee injury earlier in January, in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. There was some optimism when it was a announced there was no major ligament damage. However, the timeline has become to tight for Point to recover from the injury. Therefore, despite the fact of how tough of news this is to report, Point will not be able to represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Jarvis Deserves the Nod

His replacement is Seth Jarvis of the Carolina Hurricanes. It is interesting, that along with the other injury replacement recently named, Sam Bennett, both Bennett and Jarvis did represent Canada at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off tourney. Needless to say, both are more than capable of handling the highly-intense situations.

Jarvis is the leading goal scorer (25), and third in points (43), on the Metropolitan Division leading Carolina Hurricanes. Jarvis is very talented, and plays the game at high speed. He really is the perfect guy to have as an injury replacement.

Injury Update Concern for Tampa Bay Lightning and Team Canada

It is interesting with the previous news Anthony Cirelli won’t make the trip, but also now Brayden Point, that head coach Jon Cooper will be without two of the three players he was hoping to represent from the Lightning squad. Brandon Hagel is now the lone Lightning player on the Team Canada roster.

Team Canada’s Olympics start on Thursday, February 12th versus the team led by David Pastrnak, Czechia.
