The Pittsburgh Pirates are still one of the worst teams in the league.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are 47 games into the season, but only have 15 wins to show for it.
Just four teams in the entire league have 15 or fewer wins this season, making the Pirates one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball.
That’s reflected in this week’s power rankings from Bleacher Report writer Joel Reuter, who had the Pirates at No. 27.
“Sunday was the perfect microcosm of the current state of the Pirates, with Paul Skenes tossing eight terrific innings of three-hit, one-run ball and the team suffering a 1-0 loss. A healthy Spencer Horwitz will provide some much-needed run production, but the lineup is simply not good enough for them to be competitive,” Reuter wrote.
The Pirates have one the worst offense in baseball, scoring just 141 runs through 47 games for an average of three per game. That’s even worse than the Colorado Rockies, who are the worst team in the league by a mile with just eight wins so far on the season.
It’s hard to see how Pittsburgh can turn things around this season, but the team will have to try and find sparks along the way.
The start of a new week is a great way to try and get a good reset, especially with the Pirates returning to PNC Park for a homestand with the NL Central rivals Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers this week.
