Aaron Rodgers Injury Update: Star QB’s Status Revealed For Bears-Steelers

November 24, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a hand injury in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals, but the four-time MVP is trying to play through what was originally diagnosed as a multi-week injury. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rodgers wants to suit up for Week 12’s battle against the Chicago Bears, but the team’s medical staff may not allow that to happen. Saying that “the team has declined to provide hints as to its final decision,” it sounds we won’t know whether Rodgers will play until the team releases the list of inactives.

Aaron Rodgers Injury Update: Steelers QB A True Game-Time Decision

If this injury sidelines Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers will start veteran Mason Rudolph in his place. While nobody would confuse Rudolph with a true franchise quarterback, he is one of the league’s better backups. Originally selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Oklahoma State product has appeared in 32 games for the Steelers and Tennessee Titans while making 18 starts. While on the field, the quarterback has completed 64.1% of his passes for 4,754 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. He played well during his lone stretch of extended play this year, replacing an injured Rodgers and completing 12 of his 16 attempts for 127 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions against an admittedly weak Cincinnati Bengals team.

While Rudolph can keep the ship afloat if required, there’s no denying Aaron Rodgers is the better option, assuming he can play through the injury. While he hasn’t recaptured his once-elite form, the four-time NFL MVP has completed 66.4% of his passes for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while guiding the team to a 6-4 record. Whoever ends up under center will need to play their best football to defeat Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, and the upstart 7-3 Chicago Bears.
