Aaron Rodgers Steelers Rumors: Life Priorities, Tomlin Talks, and NFL Future
Aaron Rodgers Steelers rumors continue to build, but the 41-year-old free agent quarterback made one thing clear on “The Pat McAfee Show,” on April 17: his decision won’t come until he balances football with personal priorities.
Rodgers said he’s in a new phase of life.
“I’m 41 years old, I’m in a serious relationship, I have personal commitments… and people in my inner circle battling difficult stuff. To make a commitment to a team is a big thing,” he explained.
He told every interested team, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, that money isn’t his motivation.
“I told every single one of the teams, it ain’t about the money. I said I’ll play for $10M. Whatever.”

Rodgers Talks Tomlin, Steelers Timeline, and Respect
Rodgers confirmed he’s had multiple conversations with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and had nothing but praise for the Steelers head coach: “I talked to Mike Tomlin. He’s more than I even thought from afar as the type of person that he is, and I have a lot of respect for what he’s accomplished in the league.”
He added that Pittsburgh hasn’t pressured him with a deadline, and he appreciates their patience. Still, Rodgers made it clear he’s not keeping anyone hostage.“I’ve spoken with Mike Tomlin many times,” he said.
Rodgers emphasized that his off-field life matters more than rushing a deal. “I’m not holding anybody hostage. I’ve been upfront from the beginning. If they want to move on, I’ve told them they can.”
Rodgers also briefly mentioned his workout with Steelers star receiver DK Metcalf, and when talking about DK, Rodgers said “He is a Great Dude … Well-mannered and always starts a sentence off with yes sir or no sir. And he is an Absolute Specimen.”

Draft Won’t Impact Aaron Rodgers’ Steelers Decision
Rodgers also shut down speculation that the NFL Draft could impact where he ends up. When asked if the Steelers drafting a QB would affect anything:
“Oh, no,” he replied. “It won’t affect anything.”
Rodgers Remains Uncommitted — And That’s Okay
Rodgers wrapped things up by saying he’s still undecided—and totally okay with that.
“I’m open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility.”
The Aaron Rodgers Steelers rumors are real and leaving fans restless, but don’t expect a snap decision. For now, Rodgers is prioritizing life, family, and peace of mind. If he lands in Pittsburgh, it’ll be on his own terms.
