De’Von Achane Injury Update: Star RB’s Status Revealed For Dolphins-Steelers

December 14, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane missed the second half of Week 14’s action with a rib injury, but the ailment shouldn’t prevent him from suiting up for a must-win Monday Night Football matchup. The Dolphins removed the star running back from the injury report, and ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques confirmed that Achane is expected to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Miami Dolphin’s running back De’Von Achane (28) is tripped up by New York Jets linebacker Quincy Williams (56) during a week 14 football game between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025.

De’Von Achane Injury Update: Dolphins RB Will Play Against Steelers

This report doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, as the De’Von Achane rib injury never seems all that serious. While he missed the second half of the team’s blowout win over the New York Jets, head coach Mike McDaniel said the running back could have returned to the contest, but he didn’t want to risk re-injuring his star player when the outcome of the game was pretty much decided. While some uncertainty rose during the week, nobody should be surprised that Miami’s dangerous three-down back will play in a featured role in a must-win contest.

At 6-7, the Miami Dolphins are still in the playoff hunt but are on the outside looking in. While it’s too late to win the AFC East, this team is still alive in the race for the final Wild Card spot. However, they’ll need to win out if they want any shot of playing meaningful football in January. While the team is on a four-game winning streak, they’ll need to play their best against an equally desperate Pittsburgh Steelers squad. At 7-6, the team is one game ahead of the Baltimore Ravens in the division and must keep winning to maintain that advantage.

If De’Von Achane aggravates his injury, former fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright will likely take over atop the depth chart. After spending most of the year battling injuries of his own, the Tennessee product recorded 24 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown in relief of Achane last week.
