The former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive linemen is calling it a career
The Pittsburgh Steelers will put on the pads for the first time on Tuesday, but ahead of that, there is some retirement news coming from a former Pittsburgh offensive lineman.
Nate Herbig is retiring from the NFL after five years. He went undrafted out of Stanford in 2019 before being signed by the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent three seasons in Philadelphia, starting 17 games in those three years in a depth role. He had a one-year stint with the New York Jets in 2023, starting 11 games. He signed with the Steelers in 2023, appearing in all 17 games that season, mostly in a special teams role. He suffered a torn rotator cuff in 2024, which ended his season in training camp and opened the door for Zach Frazier to start unopposed at center. He signed with the Washington Commanders this offseason, but has called it a career.
Herbig’s brother, Nick, is set for a huge third year in Pittsburgh coming off the edge.
