All the pieces of the DK Metcalf trade are complete. Check out the returns for both teams.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to make some significant additions to the team in the 2025 NFL Draft. While questions abound about the team’s targets, one particular need was solved with the major trade for wide receiver D.K. Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason. With all three picks in that trade coming in 2025, we’ll soon know how both teams made out with their selections.
Original terms of the D.K. Metcalf trade
Steelers receive: WR D.K. Metcalf, 2025 sixth-round pick (185)
Seahawks receive: 2025 second-round pick (52), 2025 seventh-round pick (223)
Who did the Steelers select with the pick from the D.K. Metcalf trade?
The Steelers received a sixth-round pick (185) back from the Seahawks as a part of the Metcalf trade. We’ll update this post with the selection after Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
What did the Seahawks do with the picks from the D.K. Metcalf trade?
Seattle received a second-round pick (52) and a seventh-round pick (223) from Pittsburgh as compensation for Metcalf. We’ll update this post with the selections after Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Pick 52 was used by Seattle to move up in the second round during the 2025 NFL Draft to select South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori.
Who won the D.K. Metcalf trade between the Steelers and Seahawks?
Obviously, we won’t be able to answer this question definitively until we’ve seen how Metcalf fares over the next few seasons in Pittsburgh. Metcalf is in his prime and should be able to function as a WR1 if all goes to plan, but a second-round pick and a massive salary is a very high price to pay for his services. The biggest concern is if Metcalf’s value can be fully realized given Pittsburgh’s quarterback questions.
Seattle, on the other hand, has to maximize the value of pick 52 by drafting an impact player and spending the savings from Metcalf’s trade to improve the roster.
