As usual, the Steelers’ first injury report of the week is full of names.
Coming off their ninth win of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the only remaining unbeaten team and are looking to keep their win streaking rolling. With several players hoping to return from past injuries this week in order to play on Sunday, the list of players not participating in practice on Wednesday due to injury is not nearly as lengthy as those players getting the day off. In the first injury report of the week courtesy of the Steelers PR department, 3 players missed practice due to injury or illness while 6 more were held out due to a coach’s decision.
First to discuss those players who did practice, Mike Hilton was a full participant in the first practice of the week with a shoulder injury. Hilton has attempted to return to practice the last few weeks but has not been able to get back onto the field for game day.
Ather player who returned to practice for the Steelers on Wednesday was defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs with an ankle injury. Buggs missed the Steelers’ Week 10 game, so practicing on Wednesday is a good start.
There were 3 players who did not participate in practice due to injury or illness on Wednesday. Running backs Trey Edmunds and Jaylen Samuels were expected to miss practice after suffering muscle injuries last Sunday. Edmunds is dealing with a hamstring while Samuels is suffering from a quad injury.
The other player to miss practice Wednesday was linebacker Jayrone Elliott due to illness.
One player who returned on Wednesday who was not on the injury report is defensive lineman Chris Wormley. Currently on the Reserve/Injured List, Wormley is not on the official roster until the Steelers activate him. By practicing on Wednesday, the Steelers will have 21 days in which to activate Wormley or else he stays on IR for the remainder of 2020.
As expected, there was an extensive list of veterns who did not practice on Wednesdy due to a coach’s decision. Those players given the day off by Coach Tomlin include Ben Roethlisberger, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, Alejandro Villanueva, and Stephon Tuitt. A new player to this list is JuJu Smith-Schuster who had missed every Wednesday practice this season. Usually listed with a knee injury, this is the first week where it was a coach’s decision.
As for the Jaguars official injury report, you can see the names below when available.
