Report: Steelers trying to trade for Commanders WR Terry McLaurin

The Steelers have their sights set on the Pro Bowler

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a busy offseason in terms of blockbuster additions via free agency and trades. Their biggest trade acquisition of the spring was that of wide receiver DK Metcalf. Pittsburgh traded for the former Seattle Seahawks star in March and gave him a four-year, $132 million extension right after acquiring him, keeping him on their books for the next five years.

That said, the Steelers also traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, leaving a hole at WR2 for the second straight year – a void they have been trying to fill since trading Pickens in May. The reportedly reached out to the New Orleans Saints about Chris Olave, but were turned away. Now, Omar Khan is working the phones again for another star receiver.

Per Chris Halicke of DK Pittsburgh Sports, the Steelers called the Washington Commanders about a potential trade for Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin requested a trade on Thursday evening, per Jordan Schultz. McLaurin is seeking a new contract, and Washington has seemingly not met his demands.

While the Commanders aren’t expected to move McLaurin, the fact that the Steelers are calling tells you they aren’t necessarily sold on anyone currently on the roster to fill the No. 2 spot on the boundary. Don’t be surprised to see some sort of notable addition at the position in the coming weeks.
