Ryan Shazier continues to impress, gets his degree from Ohio State University

The former Pittsburgh Steelers star inside linebacker can now add college graduate onto his resume.

The thought of someone starting, and not finishing college isn’t that foreign. There are tons of young adults who head to a university or college, and for whatever reason don’t finish their degree.

For high level athletes, the thought of making millions as a professional is usually enough to lure them out of the world of academia, and into the world of sponsorships and multi-million dollar contracts.

Do athletes ever go back and finish their education? Some do, and some don’t.

In the category of those who did go back and finish their schooling is now retired Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Ryan Shazier. Shazier posted on his verified Twitter page he is now a proud graduate of the Ohio State University.

An athlete going back and getting their degree is one thing, but when that athlete is someone who has gone through the trauma and tragedy of Shazier certainly makes it even more special.

Shazier, who retired from the NFL before the start of the 2020 regular season, has now started his own foundation which will help those suffering from spinal chord injuries. Obviously, this is near to Shazier after his football career was cut short due to a spinal chord injury in a Monday Night Football game in Cincinnati in 2017.

Since that night at Paul Brown Stadium, and Shazier being told he would likely never walk again, he is not just walking, but living what most of us would call a normal life.
