Steelers activate Eric Ebron and Cassius Marsh off Reserve/COVID-19 List

The Pittsburgh Steelers get two players back prior to the team’s playoff game vs. the Cleveland Browns.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had three players miss the Week 17 game vs. the Cleveland Browns Sunday due to being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List. Those players were Joe Haden, Eric Ebron and Cassius Marsh.

It was long believed Haden was the one who tested positive, and Ebron and Marsh were high risk contacts. As fans know, this matters when it comes to how long a player has to sit out.

A positive test, whether the player is experiencing symptoms or not, has to sit out a minimum of 10 days before they can return. However, a high risk contact can return after 5 days as long as they aren’t experiencing any symptoms and/or test positive. If the players who are deemed high risk can pass those tests, they can return.

That is exactly what happened with Ebron and Marsh, as the Steelers announced on Thursday they have been removed from the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 List.

The activation of Ebron and Marsh means the are permitted to return to practice as of today, and the team will have to find a way to put them on their active roster before hosting the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card round of the AFC Playoffs this Sunday night.

Ebron has 56 catches for 558 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Marsh wasn’t signed by the Steelers till December 9th off the Colts practice squad and activated him on Dec. 14. He had two tackles against the Colts in Week 16.

There was no corresponding roster moves for the activation of Ebron and Marsh due to the Steelers using players as Covid replacements off the practice squad. Both Matthew Wright and Kevin Rader reverted back to the practice squad on Monday following the Steelers Week 17 game against the Browns.
