The Steelers will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers twice in August.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a joint practice in August, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Monday.
On a June 2 podcast with the Pewter Report, Bowles said his team will participate in joint practices with two of Tampa Bay’s upcoming preseason opponents: the Tennessee Titans and the Steelers.
The Buccaneers will visit Pittsburgh for a preseason game on Aug. 16, meaning the two teams will meet for a joint practice at some point in the days ahead of the game.
The Steelers aren’t strangers to joint practices, hosting the Buffalo Bills at Acrisure Stadium ahead of a preseason matchup in 2024. It’s unclear if the Steelers-Buccaneers practice will take place at the Steelers’ usual training camp location of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, or at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.
Having the chance to practice against another team ahead of the season can be a valuable tool, but some teams have shied away from the format due to concerns with fights, injuries, and revealing too much of their playbooks.
