Steelers Defensive Player of the Year winners since 1971

Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt has been in the conversation for AP Defensive Player of the Year since 2018 and is the frontrunner in 2020.

DPOY has gone to seven Steelers — three straight times and four of five years in the 1970s — since the Associated Press assumed presenting what the NFL considers the official award in 1971.

Pittsburgh went on to three Super Bowl and appeared in a fourth in the years the award was presented to a Steeler.

No Steeler has ever been named Offensive Player of the Year.

Defensive Player of the Year will be presented on Super Bowl weekend at the NFL Honors show, Saturday, Feb. 6.
