The Steelers add a specialist to their offseason roster.

The Steelers are expected to fill their open roster spot, with NFL insider Aaron Wilson reporting Monday afternoon that the team is expected to sign long snapper Tucker Addington.

No official signing has been announced yet.

Addington is a name the Steelers were already familiar with — Pittsburgh hosted him for a workout in September of 2024. He went undrafted in 2020 out of Sam Houston State, and didn’t make it into the NFL until 2022. Since then, the 6’2, 230-pound specialist has had stints with the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Commanders, Miami Dolphins, and Houston Texans.

The 27-year-old has appeared in 10 career NFL games, including four in 2024.

Addington has also served as a coach for Texas Long Snapping organization. He’s a member of the group’s Hall of Honor, with his bio reading as follows:

Tucker Addington won the Sam Houston State snapping job his Freshman year and kept the position his four years of college, starting 50 games for the Bearkats. A gifted athlete with outstanding footspeed (4.5/40) Tucker possesses the fastest ball speed of any Texas Long Snapping alumni with an average .65 snap (often faster!) Due to his fast ball speed, accurate ball placement and 4.5 speed, very few teams were able to return punts against SHSU, due to Tucker. 2020 NFL Free Agent.

If signed, Addington will be the second long snapper on the Steelers roster, competing with Christian Kuntz, who is on the second year of a three-year contract with Pittsburgh.
