The Steelers’ left tackle left practice on Sunday with a hamstring injury.

In an offense that will have lots of new faces this season, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line returns many of the same names. These training reps will be crucial for a line that is still young at nearly every position.

That was seemingly jeopardized over the weekend, when left tackle Broderick Jones left practice Sunday with a hamstring injury that Tomlin labeled as “day-to-day.”

Today, Steelers fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Mike Tomlin offered some positive news regarding Jones, one of the Steelers’ most important players for this upcoming season. Tomlin told reporters that Jones will be back on the field for the first day of padded practice.

After Tuesday’s practice was moved indoors, Jones will now not miss any valuable practice time in full pads. The former first-round pick out of Georgia has had an up-and-down first couple of years in the league, but has been playing out of his normal position. Jones will get a chance to return to left tackle this season and have the important task of protecting Aaron Rodgers.

This news represents the best-case scenario for the Steelers and Jones, putting him in the best position to succeed and providing the most preparation possible for what is set to be the most demanding year of his career.
