Pittsburgh continues to search for depth at cornerback.
Former Pitt cornerback Marquis Williams has received an invite to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie minicamp, per Brian Batko of Pittsburgh Sports Now. The Steelers rookie minicamp will take place from May 10-12 at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in the south side of Pittsburgh.
Having selected just one defensive back amid a huge need in the secondary opposite Joey Porter with the selection of Ryan Watts (Texas), they’re still in need of some depth.
As a sixth-year player out of Pitt with a small frame at just 5’9 and 180 pounds, Williams went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s posted 22+ tackles and an interception in each of the past four seasons, including two pick-sixes in 2022.
He joins Shon Stephens of Ferris State as the two rookie cornerbacks set to attend the Steelers’ rookie minicamp, while also extending an invitation to veteran Anthony Averett for a tryout.
Immediately following the draft, the team announced the signing of UDFA cornerback Beanie Bishop of WVU, whom they hosted on a pre-draft visit in early April.
