Like all teams heading into the NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers have several needs to address in April. But looking ahead, one stands out among the rest: defensive line.
Wide receiver and secondary are significant and likely top any other positions, but the defensive line will require a rebuild sooner rather than later, which could take years.
Steelers insider Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue, stating, “There is no bigger need than rebuilding that defensive line. Or we will be having the same discussion next year, just like we are this year.”
Pittsburgh’s defensive front, once a dominant force, has shown signs of decline, struggling against the run and failing to generate consistent pressure. With aging veterans and lacking depth, the Steelers must prioritize adding young, impact players to maintain their defensive identity.
