The Steelers may have a UDFA make their roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers made many notable additions this offseason, via free agency, trades, and the draft. Through nearly two weeks of training camp, several of those new players have popped and look like they can help Pittsburgh end its playoff win drought.

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey has arguably been the best player in Latrobe this summer. DK Metcalf has also had moments where he looks like the juggernaut the Steelers need him to be at receiver. However, it’s another wideout that continues to make splashes and has people talking about a potential Cinderella run to make the roster.

Undrafted free agent Roc Taylor has been stacking great play after great play in a push to make the 53-man roster. He had a very good practice on Friday night, beating James Pierre down the sideline in one-on-ones for a touchdown. He’s also showcased very good route-running ability, as well as the willingness to run block downfield in team drills.

Each day, the Memphis product seems to make another big play to make the case that he deserves a roster spot going into Week 1. Considering the lack of proven game-changing talent at the position, it would be easy to make the case for the rookie to be given a chance. Should the Steelers not make another outside addition at receiver, he would be a good pick to be the No. 6 wideout on the depth chart. And even if they do make a trade or sign a No. 2 wideout, it would make more sense to keep Taylor over a veteran like Robert Woods.

In his last two seasons at Memphis, Taylor caught 135 passes for 2,033 yards and six touchdowns.
