The Buffalo Bills are a pretty healthy team heading into the Week 1 tilt vs. the Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have their hands full when they play the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo on September 12th in Week 1 action of the 2021 regular season. Whether you are talking about Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen or any number of other dynamic players, the Bills are a healthy team heading into the season opener.
The Bills, like the Steelers, are just getting back to practice this week as they prepare for the game Sunday, but it is worth noting who might be carrying some nagging injuries into the regular season.
According to Buffalo Rumblings, the SB Nation Bills website, the practice after their preseason finale vs. the Green Bay Packers had the following players either wearing non-contact jerseys, or sitting out for other reasons.
This per Matt Warren:
CB Taron Johnson, CB Dane Jackson, and WR Isaiah McKenzie were all wearing red non-contact jerseys but practiced.
DE Jerry Hughes (rest) and FS Jaquan Johnson (knee) were not participating, but were in attendance. Free safety Micah Hyde (personal reasons) and DT Star Lotulelei (calf) were not at practice.
The Bills, a lot like the Steelers, are a team who will head into the regular season without having any major injury impacting their starting lineup.
The big name players will all be in attendance, but the Steelers will certainly have some question marks as they start the regular season. Starting right tackle Zach Banner has been placed on Injured Reserve (IR), which likely means the starting offensive line will have Chuks Okorafor pushing from left tackle to right tackle and rookie Dan Moore Jr. getting the start at left tackle.
Joining Banner on IR is also Stephon Tuitt, but if there is a position the Steelers can absorb a player lost, it is along the defensive line. Chris Wormley and/or Tyson Alualu will fill the void of Tuitt until he is healthy enough to return to the team.
Backup running back Anthony McFarland was also placed on IR, but his absence is hardly a hinderance to the lineup considering Najee Harris being the main ball carrier heading into the regular season.
Of course, there is also the T.J. Watt contract situation which hangs over the Steelers like a cloud. Will they get a deal done? Will Watt practice if a deal doesn’t get done?
The Bills are a healthy group, and the Steelers have many question marks heading into Sunday’s game. Be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the black and gold as they prepare for the upcoming matchup vs. the Bills in Orchard Park.
