Steelers news and commentary from Friday, May 3rd
Welcome to the Terrible Towel Tales, where we’ll highlight some of the latest stories permeating Steelers media for your reading pleasure every Monday through Saturday. In today’s news…
Steelers’ Omar Khan Addresses Possible Cam Sutton Signing | Noah Strackbein, All Steelers
“You know, we’ll see,” Khan said. “We did meet with Cam, I think it was a couple weeks ago. It was more than just about the situation here, we just wanna see how he was doing. We spent six years with Cam, and they were a good six years with Cam. It was a good experience, and obviously, he had an opportunity to go to Detroit – had to make a business decision, but we’ll see.
“I will say this, I do like the depth we have at the position. You know, there’s some young guys in there that are gonna compete and have a lot of traits to be really good nickel corners, and I really like that group. … We’ll see what the future holds.”
Somewhere, ex-Steelers WR Diontae Johnson is smiling | Allison Koehler, Steelers Wire
I get it. With one year left on Johnson’s contract, the Steelers wanted to get something for him while they could. But he was still the team’s leading receiver, responsible for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns since he was drafted in 2019. Not having something firmly in place seems very un-Khan Artist.
Now the Steelers are stuck with one of the weakest receiving corps in the NFL—all after making two shrewd moves for talented quarterbacks — while teams around them make moves to solidify their rosters.
