The Ravens had one practice squad player test positive for COVID-19 Friday

With only one positive test, the Ravens may be nearing the end of the outbreak which began in Week 11.

The Baltimore Ravens continue to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak within their organization, but test results show things may be slowing down going into the weekend. As reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Ravens were down to one positive case from testing which occurred on Friday.

The Ravens currently have 13 players on the Reserve/COVID-19 List (12 due to a positive test and one due to high risk contact) as four more were added on Friday based on Thursday’s testing. Most notably, quarterback and former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson tested positive Thursday and will not be eligible to return to the Ravens for at least one game assuming the team is able to play on Tuesday. Will Holden has yet to be put on the COVID list but will likely be added on Saturday.

On Friday, the Steelers added three players of their own to the Reserve/COVID-19 List in Stephon Tuitt, Isaiah Buggs, and Jerald Hawkins. It has not been reported at this time if these players went on the list with a positive test or due to high risk close contact. They join Kevin Dotson who has been on the list since November 14.

While Saturday’s round of testing in Baltimore will give the NFL a sense of if the outbreak is contained within the Ravens, and hopefully the Steelers are not dealing with their own issues when it comes to COVID-19. The last day the Steelers have been together to practice was on Wednesday, and being in the intensive protocol, which all teams are now required in the NFL, the only contact players have with teammates is during practice time as all meetings are now virtual.

With the Steelers hosting the Ravens in a game now scheduled for Tuesday night, both teams have the opportunity to be trending in a right direction before stepping on the field with whatever players will be available from each team.
