The Steelers rookie is still ecstatic that he is learning under Rodgers
Many Pittsburgh Steelers fans are excited to see rookie quarterback Will Howard take the field this August during preseason play. The Steelers took Howard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Ohio State product has quickly become a fan-favorite, saying all the right things since being drafted.
And while fans are looking forward to seeing Howard in live-game action, the rookie quarterback can’t stop talking about how much he enjoys being around new Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Joining Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette YouTube channel, Howard continued to rave about Rodgers’ mentorship and how
“He’s been so awesome to me so far,” Howard said. “Obviously, we’ve only gotten to be together for about three days, but I got a really good feeling about him [and] about this whole QB room… Aaron has been so willing to help me. He’s like, ‘Literally, as much or as little as you want me to help you, I’ll be there.’”
This echoes what Howard said during mini-camp when Rodgers approached him to give him some pointers, but didn’t want to overstep.
“When he [approaches me for advice], he’s like, ‘I don’t want to overstep,’” Howard said. “I’m like, ‘dude, please, by all means, tell me whatever you think.’”
The mentor-student relationship between Rodgers and Howard has been one of the best stories of the offseason for the Steelers, and we’ll see soon enough how it carries over into training camp and exhibition play.
