With obvious depth needed, the Steelers workout a trio of players

The Pittsburgh Steelers need some depth at several positions, and they hosted a trio of players for workouts to try and fill those needs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of depth at several positions. Some areas the need is based off of injuries, while others based off players who aren’t available at the moment.

With Maurkice Pouncey, Jerald Hawkins on the Reserve/COVID-19 List, and Bud Dupree lost for the year with a torn ACL, the Steelers needed to bolster the depth at those positions. With that said, it shouldn’t come as a shock the Steelers worked out players who would help fill some of those depth needs.

The players the Steelers worked out, and a some information about them are below:

OT Cody Conway

Conway is a Syracuse product and was an UDFA selection after the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. After not sticking with the Titans, Conway signed with the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. However, his latest team was the San Francisco 49ers.

DE Shareef Miller

Miller was a 4th round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019 NFL Draft out of Penn State. After not making the team with the Eagles, Miller was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers. However, the Eagles signed him back to their practice squad in 2020 before being waived.

C Zach Shackelford

UDFA out of Texas signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the 2020 NFL Draft, but failed to make the team.

The Steelers will have some roster spots available with players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, so be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they make any potential roster moves, as well as prepare for the Washington Football Team at Heinz Field on Monday in Week 13.
